It was so wonderful to meet some of you at the Ask a Homeschool Parent booth at the Called to Teach Convention in the Woodlands over June 2nd to 4th!
How inspiring to be surrounded by people who are all working toward the same goals and doing their best to teach their children to the best of their abilities…
We had so many speakers that were inspirational! I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed getting to meet Natasha Crain! Her session on teaching apologetics to your children was completely packed. You could see the excitement in parents’ eyes as they learned from her.
Apologetics isn’t just something mysterious for scholars to debate. Apologetics is for everyone! Here are some ideas on how to integrate apologetics and logical thinking into your homeschool.
📚Check out Natasha’s books! They are designed to help you deal with the increasingly aggressive culture and give you (and your kids!) confidence to not give up your faith or your joy. Her books teach you, as a parent, how to have productive conversations with your children and how to answer even their most difficult questions.
💡Stand to Reason University is a free online training program full of ideas to give your student confidence in their beliefs. Using short, interactive, and engaging courses, STR U equips Christians to make an even-handed, yet gracious defense for Christianity and Christian values in the public square. Courses cover things like looking at the context before coming to conclusions, discussing the nature of truth, and overviews of apologetics.
🕵️The Fallacy Detective: Thirty-Eight Lessons on How to Recognize Bad Reasoning has been the bestselling text for teaching logical fallacies and introduction to logic for over 15 years. Using humorous scenarios, it uses engaging comics and thought-provoking questions to get your students excited about logic. My kids love this book and read it on their own time, just for fun!
I hope these ideas help you create an environment of joy in your home and in your homeschool overall.
Thank you for reading,
Jessica Lovett

Ubiquitous digital screens are a defining feature of our era. Movies, television, desktops, laptops, pads and tablets, cell phones, readers and gaming devices … many of us spend hours a day in front of a glowing blue screen. We work, play and depend on them for socialization and relaxation. The total amount of screen time for kids each day—an average of 6.5 hours—has more than doubled in the last 20 years. Read on…

As a homeschooler, THSC helps your voice be heard!
We have all heard about the politicization of the public school system and, as advocates for homeschooling, feel worried about governmental overreach into our homes. Our right to homeschool is one of the most important rights we have.
Are you looking for a way to support the homeschooling community and make sure your values are protected?
If you join THSC, you can also take comfort in knowing that you’re supporting THSC’s Policy Team. They work hard behind the scenes to watch every single bill in Texas that is presented to the legislature and make sure it is not undermining families. THSC also works hard to help members who have experienced prejudice for being a homeschooler - either with CPS, with governmental benefits like social security, in college admissions, or with the public school system.
Is your homeschool graduate looking for a way to become more involved in politics? Are they passionate about making a difference in the world but you’re not sure where to help them start?
The THSC Watchmen are a team of homeschool graduates who serve as legislative analysts and lobbyists for Texas' homeschool families. Every single legislative session, the THSC Watchmen work tirelessly to protect the rights of homeschool families.
This is a resume-building opportunity for students to have hands-on experience while with other like-minded individuals, in a safe and controlled environment. Watchmen serve together for an entire legislative session. Apply today!
Mask mandates, Critical Race Theory, and the teaching of sexually explicit material are causing parents to step back and recognize what their children are being taught in public schools.
In a post-pandemic world, homeschooling continues to rise, and parents have become empowered to take charge of their children’s education. We believe that parents have a God-given right to raise their children as they see fit, without government interference.
