Easter falls on Sunday, April 17th this year. My kids are a little older now and not into making simple Easter bunny crafts anymore, but they are total science nerds...
This year, Iâm going to incorporate some Easter-themed science projects into our celebration! Science shows us the beauty and majesty of creation all around us.
As Louis Pasteur said, âThe more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator. Science brings men nearer to God.â
đ€Our family doesnât really like to eat Peeps on their own, but weâll be picking some up at the store for another reason - science! Take a look at these fun Peeps science experiments! These 10 activities have easy set-up and hardly any prep time. There is even a science journal printable! Learn why wet Peeps candy sink and dry ones donât, how to make a Peep disappear, and figure out whether or not they can freeze - and more!
đ„We have done just about every mainstream science experiment there is, but weâve never tried this Naked Egg Experiment before! You use an acetic vinegar solution to dissolve the eggâs calcium carbonate shell so your students can see what it really looks like under there. Tada, a transparent egg!
đHave you ever tried growing salt crystals? This Easter Egg Salt Crystal Experiment is really easy and makes a rather impressive result! Besides teaching evaporation, water saturation, density, chemical bonds and all that other fun stuff - it also teaches your kids patience because it takes a while for these to finish. Donât worry, itâs worth the wait!
đ±Before throwing out those eggshells, consider using them to start an Eggshell Garden! You donât need a fancy kit to start out seedlings, just some dirt and seeds. The care and minding of new plants is an important skill and will give your kids a better appreciation of the bounty in the produce aisle!
đLastly, I donât think Iâve even given my kids an Easter basket without at least one book tucked inside⊠and usually more than one! Here is a list of some spring-y books to include in your Easter celebration. There is a good mix of religious books celebrating Jesusâ Resurrection as well as your usual bunnies and flowers kind of books.
I hope these ideas help you create an environment of joy in your home and in your homeschool overall.
Thank you for reading,

Is something missing in the way you homeschool your students?
It happens to all of us⊠Sometimes we need to stop and evaluate what direction our homeschool is heading. If you need to add some additional structure to your day, have you considered an online learning program?
Founders Classical Academy is a brick-and-mortar school that offers an online program, too, with just as much rigor and academics as a private school.

The lens that we use to view todayâs world matters. Every human being alive today has a set of lenses they are using to filter what they are seeing and define reality to the best of their knowledge. For those who profess to have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, there is only one set of lenses that can be used: the lens of Scripture.
The culture as defined in America is overwhelmingly becoming more and more post-truth.
Learn from John Mason - a keynote speaker at both the Allen and the Woodlands 2022 Called to Teach Conventions - about how to deal with this new culture and approach worldviews as a Christian. Read onâŠ

You want to teach your kids to be solid in their values, but are you teaching them how to defend those values? Or how to be invulnerable to rhetorical attacks?
In part one of this article, youâll learn about common tactics many kids are vulnerable to and how you can help them recognize and respond to them in both the media they encounter and in day-to-day conversations. Read moreâŠ
The famous Rodgers and Hammerstein musical âThe Sound of Music,â besides being highly entertaining, offers a number of practical lessons for homeschool music lessons. As a brass and piano instructor, I continue to rely on the Julie Andrews âMariaâ character for inspiration on how to effectively teach music to students.
In one memorable scene, Maria teaches the Von Trapp children how to sing the notes of a major scale using a mnemonic technique. The oft-repeated song âDo-Re-Miâ blends music appreciation and music theory through a catchy tune that even the youngest musicians can understand. Parents who may not have musical experience can still incorporate the song into their home school lesson plans. Read moreâŠ
We live in a world that is over-concerned with utility and efficiency. Even though Iâve shown Latin is both useful and efficient to learn, those two qualities wonât be enough to propel us to persevere. If we believe education is for life and not merely for a job, if we have a zeal for truth and not merely for checking boxes, and if we have a desire for excellence and not merely for squeaking by, then we wonât neglect our study of Latin. Learning Latin requires the skills of patience, precision, accuracy, and attention to detail. These habits of the mind are formational. Read moreâŠ
As a homeschooler, THSC helps your voice be heard!
We have all heard about the politicization of the public school system and, as advocates for homeschooling, feel worried about governmental overreach into our homes. Our right to homeschool is one of the most important rights we have.
Are you looking for a way to support the homeschooling community and make sure your values are protected?
If you join THSC, you can also take comfort in knowing that youâre supporting THSCâs Policy Team. They work hard behind the scenes to watch every single bill in Texas that is presented to the legislature and make sure it is not undermining families. THSC also works hard to help members who have experienced prejudice for being a homeschooler - either with CPS, with governmental benefits like social security, in college admissions, or with the public school system.
Is your homeschool graduate looking for a way to become more involved in politics? Are they passionate about making a difference in the world but youâre not sure where to help them start?
The THSC Watchmen are a team of homeschool graduates who serve as legislative analysts and lobbyists for Texas' homeschool families. Every single legislative session, the THSC Watchmen work tirelessly to protect the rights of homeschool families.
This is a resume-building opportunity for students to have hands-on experience while with other like-minded individuals, in a safe and controlled environment. Watchmen serve together for an entire legislative session. Apply today!
The theme for Called to Teach this year is all about freedom⊠Freedom to choose homeschooling for your family, to structure your home life as you see fit, and to create an environment of peace in your homeschool!
Called to Teach will have hundreds of exhibitors to let you see homeschool curriculum and resources for yourself. THSC Coaches will be on hand to answer your questions.
Mask mandates, Critical Race Theory, and the teaching of sexually explicit material are causing parents to step back and recognize what their children are being taught in public schools.
In a post-pandemic world, homeschooling numbers continue to rise, and parents have become empowered to take charge of their childrenâs education. We believe that parents have a God-given right to raise their children as they see fit, without government interference.
Check out this new, inspiring video showing real homeschooling families and what a difference being a part of a supportive community like THSC can truly mean!
