Hello, THSC Friend,
Sometimes it’s hard to remember to be thankful. I don’t know about you, but homeschooling this past year was a bit complicated in light of so many changes going on in our society. It was a challenge to roll with those changes and to gauge how much to share with my children and how much to hold back due to their emotional maturity levels.
Yet, it is so important to not focus too much on what’s going wrong and remember to focus on things that are full of light in life. Those things are what keep us going!
Paul encourages us in Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.”
That scripture shines a spotlight on any grumblings in my heart and helps pettiness to dissolve. When we decide to teach our children gratitude, they perk up. Annoyances with each other or petty antagonisms between siblings disappear. Gratitude automatically focuses us on God instead of ourselves.

Remember that as parents, we set the mood of the house. Make it a point to show your kids how happy they make you by greeting them in the morning with a smile - truly from your heart - and I promise that the tone in your home will be lifted.
